Once, in every man's life, he should...

...try to write a good poem.

Here's my best effort.

~~ Night's Void ~~
The new love's heat
consumed our hearts
as wildfire in a wood.
Your face engraved
as from the arts
and on my soul it stood.
I meant to say,
as I laid in
that passion's rose hued heather,
"I'll hold you close,
we'll cross Night's void,
and face the dawn together."

My voice kept still.
You never heard
and season followed tide.
Enchantment left
without a word.
A chasm opened wide.
I tried to shout,
against the wind
of hated lonely weather,
"I'll hold you close,
we'll cross Night's void,
and face the dawn together."

Perhaps at last
distrust gave way.
We saw ourselves anew.
We both reached out
through mists of grey
and marveled at the view.
I felt that now,
I need not tend those words
so like a tether:
"I'll hold you close,
we'll cross Night's void,
and face the dawn together."

But in this time
of faith on trial,
our flame, rekindled now,
brings forth once more
and without guile
those thoughts I must avow.
I state at last
with heartfelt love
these words of nestling feather,
"I'll hold you close,
we'll cross Night's void,
and face the dawn together."

Maybe some day...I'll try again.
Meanwhile, unless your initials are V V,
any comments may be taken with a grain of calcium chloride.

Did I really say "nestling feather?"

I want some of what you've imbibed.

...

...

...

Maybe a version including Tom Jones, or basketballs, or anal, or something?

It's not easy to do that, especially here. Kudos!

I'll take the suggestions under advisement.

Am I misunderstanding? It may not be table salt, but it is a salt, no?

C'mon BL...I can see this little diversion for what it is. You're just a bit shy about your poetry.
Let it rip.

I always admire your right brain talents. And, yes, I know calcium is a salt, too, and the product is known as a salt substitute, which is usually taken for a medical reason. I apologize for the diversion from the poem.
