rest majestic before the stars
as this earthen, human world rushes past.

I need to pull you to me
and crash our bodies together
like surf and rock
like a meteor flashing hot
against the sky
like a lifetime
of fucking rolled into once.

Like a soft kiss
damp lips and light breath on skin--
and bruising bites
leaving traces of blood
on my tongue and yours.

I need it all.
I can't have you right now
so I close my eyes
and we're together again.

You are bound craupadine
you are all mine
and I am all yours.
We play and laugh and love.
This becomes our world
our nirvana for the moment
timeless
senseless except for senses we stir:
Kubla Khan rises around us
the Great Pyramids
the canals of Mars, flowing
hot and molten Venus
oceanbeds swirl schools of tropical fish
dancing overhead
sunken ships and gold and whipfire lightning
flashing thick beneath the waves....

God I miss you.
That's all this is supposed to say.

The Edge fades now.

You've helped me push at the skin
until my gleaming places sliced through
secrets revealed.

I can wait.
Life is good now.
I knew it!

"bruising bites" Nice, that.

Maybe I have gotten the wrong message or misinterpreted it but for a man who has been married for and just guessing here, 20+ to 25+ years you start the poem off with "The New Love's Heat", I don't want to go down that road and I doubt anyone here does either, I mean, shit we have all seen your gun cleaning gear.........

Did this in high school . . . published in the school paper, my 15 minutes:

Santa Claus Meets Jaws

Twas the night before Christmas and all through the sea
Not a creature was stirring, it was quiet as could be
The stars were so bright, but it was still very dark
Then out of the darkness came the great white shark
He moved very slowly, but at steady pace
With 5 inch teeth, a threat to the human race
He spotted a light as red as a rose
A tasty treat, for it was Rudolph's nose
Santa Claus flew on his journey 'cross the ocean
He looked down at the water and spotted the commotion
Hovering low over the deep, dark sea
He wondered what in the world that thing could be
When what to his wondering eyes did appear
A twenty foot shark that knocked down his reindeer
Down when Dancer, Prancer, Donner, and Vixen
The blood and sea water started a mixin'
Santa jumped down to see what was the matter
Just in time to see poor Rudoph's blood splatter
He saw the shark come with wide open jaws
The deer an appetizer, the main course Santa Claus
With a wave of his tail and a flick of his Bic
He knew in a moment the bloody mess was Saint Nick
He licked his lips like a good boy should
And then grinned to himself "My that was good"
Then out of the dark and the big blood smear
Up poked the head of a lone reindeer
Darkness about, the night still draped
Something flying around, Dancer had escaped!
To the shore he flew, he couldn't be tardy
For he had to assemble a rescue party
He came to a beach, he didn't care where he went
Got three men named Hooper, Brody, and Quint
Out into the night they flew, quickly, without pause
Hoping for a chance to save Santa Claus
But, alas, when they got there, they knew they were too late
For Santa Claus was not around, they knew he'd been ate
When what to their wondering eyes did appear
A miniature sleigh, but no tiny reindeer
Flying fish pulled the sleigh, and what do you suppose
The one at the front had a shiny red nose
The driver looked different, not lively and quick
They knew in a moment it wasn't Saint Nick
What was this thing, it wasn't Santa Claus
They soon figured out it was the shark known as Jaws
And the shark spoke loud so the rescuers could hear
"Guess what the kids get for Christmas this year!"
And they heard him exclaim as he drove out of sight
"Merry Christmas to all and to all a good bite!"

Now first of all...I CLEARLY stated that the gun cleaning stuff was a bookmarked site that I had stored and was not MY info.

Secondly, the poem covered those 20+ to 25+ years. That was the "season followed tide" line.

Are you SURE you're Virginian?

All right Dig,
I was throttled by my conscience toward expression on the February 13th before last. I know, I know, "drop the Claudian bit". But then it would loose it's primary reference to the baner of marriages that gave a certain saint his palette of creativity.

/In days gone by of the Claudian decree
The flames of dark loneliness spread
On inconvenient winds, much like today
The calls, to work or play, and tendings to the constant fray
Beckon me away from the hearth

Bundles of wood I promised to thee
So often undelivered
Your warmth goes faint and light dims
As I am called to desert lands where fires don't need tending
But unimaginably, under the ashes

Your coals still glow
Longer than natural forces should allow them
Your flame defies their call
Insulated from reason
By all that matters

That they are, these embers
Send my empire bursting into flame
It's mountains, up in smoke before them
Accolades, decrees, and long fraught plans
Are consumed as your ever present glimmering

Ignites the sight, the smell, and taste in me
Of where I must, forever be
With you, my one true love entwined
In a headlong rush to end of time
So come with me, to Valentine/

-Marty

That's the SHIT!

My favorite line (and it should be yours) was

"The flames of dark loneliness spread
On inconvenient winds, much like today"

Nice theme all the way through. I had to skim it first and then go back more slowly as if sampling a buffet and then settling in for the meal.

Tasty.
