This is more significant than most people know. What Hillary is unwittingly revealing, is a predisposition toward associating with people who believe as she believes, and disassociating with those who believe otherwise. Her own beliefs are so important to her, that she has no room in her life for someone with an opposing viewpoint.
If that doesn't sound like Bush, I don't know what does.
On the contrary, her opponent in the person of one Barack Obama, has associated himself (and remained associated) with people whose opinions he not only states are offensive to him, but to the broader population.
All of the hoopla around "Why", which seems to be the central question, has such a simple answer. It dates back an eternity. It serves one well to remain well connected to all sides, while establishing deep entanglements with none. Said another way, "keep your friends close, and your enemies closer."
