Oh no! I prefer disagreement. It inflates my post count...

Not sure how that applies. Would it be more or less respectful to discuss a controversial current event in greater or lesser detail or passion?

Would it be more respectful for people who have doubts as to the qualifications of a presidential candidate to ignore the candidate?

The biggest problems we are facing right now have to do with George Bush trying to bring more and more power into the executive branch and not go through Congress at all and thatís what I intend to reverse.

Two swift-boats pass in the night.....

Neither has much apparent basis in reality, both are aswirl in innuendo, accusation and soothsaying peers into men's souls. One victim is a racist hoping to forever put the clamps on whitey, while the other is a blood-sucking womanizer who sold out his country for a piece of ass. The swift-boats dock, and one is empty, while the other unloads a bulging cargo. I'm not sure what that says, but I do find it a bit unbalanced. Does the imbalance speak exclusively to the nature of the improprieties, or is it something else? Will the Obama smear wind up having as little traction as the McCain smear with the passage of time? One would hope.

"Smears" don't usually get traction. The truth usually does.

Just look at the relative lengths of the two threads: One is ignored while the other gets traction--big time traction!

It could be that the McCain smear was dependent on innuendo and unsupported accusations by named and unnamed people while the Obama thing has actual Youtubeified film of a man whom Obama says is his spiritual guide.

Now if McCain had said that the Lincoln S&L guy (forgot his name) was his spiritual leader or if McCain had sex with Jerry Falwell (alive or dead) we would all like to know.

What does the McCain issue say about McCain? Is McCain responsible for the accusations of unnamed sources?
What does the Obama issue say about Obama? Is Obama responsible for the words of those around him, regardless of his reaction to those words and their author?

Each scenario offers an equally murky and ambiguous indictment of its respective victim. One difference is a YouTube video. That does not appear to be the only difference.

Eh, GS, I think you're reaching a bit there. I think the main reason why the "right" has had quite a bit to say about a controversy on the "left" is that the weight of the great monkey (GWB) is about to be lifted and there's a couple shoes being shifted to other feet (to coin a phrase or two). After being largely on the defensive for the last couple years, nice to see some shit being slung between Dem candidates, and between the media and the candidates (the media still being quite left, just divided). And, just wait, it'll get better if it tightens up.
