Hey Destroyer, Bruce R and others.....How do you feel about Women's Tennis........
Women’s tour CEO Larry Scott reacts to Richard Williams’ remarks on racism
INDIAN WELLS, Calif. (AP)—WTA head Larry Scott said Thursday that he strongly disagrees with comments made by Richard Williams, father of Serena and Venus, regarding racism on the women’s tour.
Saying he was disappointed by Williams’ recent remarks during an interview in India, Scott said in a statement: “The Tour has a zero tolerance policy when it comes to racism, and I have previously let Mr. Williams know that he should let me know if he ever had evidence of racist comments or acts in women’s professional tennis.”
While his daughters were playing earlier this month in Bangladore, India, where Venus reached the quarterfinals and Serena won the title, Williams told the Deccan Herald, “Well, I’m black and I’m prejudiced, very prejudiced. People are prejudiced in tennis. I don’t think Venus or Serena was ever accepted by tennis. They never will be.”
He said the media treated his daughters unfairly, that it was “the worst media job that they have done on any human being in the world,” and that if he were Serena and Venus, he would have quit playing.
“But if you get some little white no-good trasher in America like Tracy Austin or Chris Evert, who cannot hit the ball, they (the media) will claim this is great,” he said.
Scott said, “Champions like Chris Evert and Tracy Austin have done so much to help build women’s tennis to where it is today, and it is regrettable that anyone would criticize them in this manner.”
The Williams sisters haven’t played at Indian Wells since 2001. They were booed after Venus pulled out of a semifinal match against her sister, citing knee tendinitis. Serena went on to win the title, but was booed during and after the championship match.

Destroyer, I see where you live in Florida, perhaps Jacksonville??????
Offensive Slave Sign Removed From Walls Of Laundromat After 30 Years
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A sign most people find offensive is finally off the wall of a Jacksonville laundromat after 30 years.
The sign that reads "Unattended Children Will Be Sold As Slaves" has hung on the wall of the business for decades until Wednesday. The owner of Soap Opera Coin and Laundry said it was there when he bought the place and he just never took it down.
He called it a light-hearted nudge at parents who don't watch their kids.
"It's a joke. You have a child that's messing around and 'Oh, I'll sell them as slave.' I guess I can see how someone might get upset," said David Marti, the laundromat owner.
Marti removed the sign after a customer complained about it to a Jacksonville television station.

I fail to see the racism in that. Sign said "Unattended Children Will Be Sold As Slaves" not "Unattended Black Children Will Be Sold As Slaves". Just another example of the black man getting what he wants. I'm still not over the Imus thing and I dont even like Imus but he was served a very big injustice.

Imus was screwed royally but hey in the end he got paid out and got a new job, sure the whole thing played out very unfairly and Sharpton screwed him and never gave him the apology he deserved. Obama is the only thing I and Sharpton have ever agreed on.........
As for the sign thing, I think it was something to do with that little word called slavery, sure you would understand if you were black..........you are not are you?

There I agree with you Destroyer. Let the free market fix it.
I'm not saying someone won't be offended by the sign, or by Imus's comments, and I can see why they would be. But if the laundry-mat owner and Imus think it's funny it should be an opportunity for them to explain themselves to each offended customer.
"Would you sell my children into slavery?" -
"Why do you refer to them as hoes, and specifically nappy headed ones?" -
I'm sure hearing the answer to these question would be better than reading about it in the news. Condemning comments by boycotting, banishing and firing out of fear is too quick and easy today, and it is bleeding words from the dictionary to avoid communicating.

What the fuck is it with people in Florida? My goodness......
"I understand MSNBC has suspended Mr. Imus," Obama told ABC News, "but I would also say that there's nobody on my staff who would still be working for me if they made a comment like that about anybody of any ethnic group."
