It adds a substantial level of bureaucracy to the concept it attempts to purport. Free trade is free trade. A nanny state is a nanny state. You can't nanny free trade.

Some people lost their jobs, and won't go to where another is. They want to do what they want to do for the amount of money they want to make and live where they want to live. It is the government's responsibility to bring prosperity to them, they don't want to go where it is.

I suspect that was tongue 'n cheek because neither NAFTA nor the government caused anyone to lose their job/s. It was technology and an increase in productivity that did that. And the government has no responsibility to bring prosperity to anyone! That is up to the individual!!

As far as any records can tell NAFTA benfits far more than hinders the typical American. As far as politicians go, they will all say anything to get elected, the stakes, effort, and money involved is too high. Just accept it and work with it.
