What crack? If that's the case then free trade has been going on since that time so there is no reason for Bush to rally for such a cause don't you think?

No, military advisors have been in Columbia since the 1950's, silly!

How you could ever have thought otherwise, since crack is a recent phenomenon, escapes me. But you probably already knew that and was just having a bit of fun with the ol' Botster.

I don't know whether the Present Occupant is rallying for cocaine, but by your highly peccable form of logic, ol' Charlie Rangel sure is!

Could it possibly be that there is another explanation?

The biggest problems we are facing right now have to do with George Bush trying to bring more and more power into the executive branch and not go through Congress at all and thatís what I intend to reverse.

I am from Colombia.

FARC used to have a good political story, they once had a cause, now it's terrorism, kidnap, illegal drugs, contraband, etc. that dictate their ways. Ecuador and Venezuela house these people and as we have learned through the killing of "RAUL REYES," Venezuela may also be funding them. Inavaiding sovereignty is not acceptable and I agree with that.

Long story short, this world is full of greed and misconduct, even the Colombian President may be at fault, but one less A-hole is roaming the forest and putting my country and people through the pain they cause. Venezuelan dictatorship is not the way to go as much as one may dislike Bush. Colombia will not become another Cuba. This was my reason for leaving with my family in 93 after threatening letters, my apartment was bombed, my father's cars stolen, etc.

The guerrillas terrorized us and the Colombian government failed my family as well as all the refugees around the world. Today a decent president governs Colombia and has done more than many. He has made streets safer, now we can go to the beach or into the mountains for vacation without being stopped, robbed, kidnapped, murdered.

There have been about 2 or 3 guerrilla groups that have dissolved in the past 20 years. One of these include the M-19 group. Left is the FARC and ELN. Who is to say that they cannot be defeated too.

Sad that that is what people think when they hear about Colombia. I guess when you have a bunch of crackheads here there will always be people producing and making money like crazy there.

It sad to see places like Columbia and Iraq sharing the same fate...Can someone quote me what Bush said while he was on his glorious African tour about foreign intervention and meddling?

As a boy I lived in Cartagena in the 1950's at the foot of San Felipe, on the harbor side. I have since returned twice in the 1970's. Memories I will always treasure. In 20 years it had changed from a very isolated, quiet colonial town in which carriages brought women into the city to shop and street vendors sang their products to a vibrant, international city. I cannot imagine how it must look today, but I have been gently prodding my wife for a vacation to South America (I have relatives in Uruguay) with a stop in Cartagena.

Even in the 1970's the drug trade was becoming a big problem for Cartagena.

Realizing I have never been there but as a child, I liked(still like) how the city is pronounced, very soothing.

I have pictures (never to be seen on the Internet!) of my as little boy playing in the streets with my little friends. All of us naked playing in the rain. It's not difficult to figure out which one is me -- I'm the one white as a fishbelly with curly blond hair. My friends were all browner. Some of the families that lived around us had been in the same houses since the 1600's. It is an ancient city by colonial standards.
