Rod Blagojevich is in bed with Mayor Daley. Anyways, the pressure was on and Rod caved in, but stipulated that seniors ride for free.

And too what hurts this state is that it is typically not business friendly due to higher than average taxes. Oh well, you gotta love Chicago!!

My best guess is that Chicago and Cabrini were used as models as many of the top Economists of the 50-70s [and their resulting textbooks] were coming out of the University of Chicago and the city and its socio-economic changes were a very fertile laboratory for their studies. It is, of course the home of "The Chicago School" of Economic Thought and Milton Friedman. So I would suspect that the local s/e changes would have been as much a topic of their conversation as the latest benz might be for some of us.
You could be right. There are things that set Cabrini apart from the other Chicago projects of that era. First and foremost, it was built closer to major tracts of high-end real estate than any of the others, thus its economic impact on the community was bound to be more interesting and controversial. Also, it was not nearly as dangerous as some of the other projects, lending a hands-on availability that was somewhat unique, when compared to places like Robert Taylor Homes, which averaged about a murder per day.

Mighty big assumption on your part.

I've never been in the business to lower my price to a distributer who wants me to lower it so they don't have to sacrifice their 35% markup because his customer wants a 5% better deal. Its gotta be 2.5% at both ends.
I like to operate on a two way street.

Edited for mudslinging purposes.

Maybe I should have rephrased. "Never had a wholesale business that dealt with walmart". That would have been more specific.

And it was an assumption based on your previous remarks which suggest that you have not.

The point of the comments were that walmart does NOT operate on a two way street with their vendors.

I'll do the best I can.

So this guy tells me: "So you know the old lady that had burns over 90 % of her body? Well, she burned the other 10%." [see, there is math in the joke].

"Seems she was lighting her farts and caught her bush on fire".

So I said: "Now Reverend..."

I heard that the other night on Carlin and started coughing for 15 minutes.

Dammit, that should be in the Religious thread from earlier.

After all. It is a Burning Bush joke.

Sorry about that.

that is a typical partisan knee jerk reaction, so why don't you be fair for the first time on your life, and:

Get the figures for the bill for this and then for the Republicans' bill for their Iraq war caper, and then come back to us with the results, which cost us more?

I can't get the connection between this thread and fighting terrorism in Baghdad, unless Cascade is suggesting we should have invaded Chicago because it would have been cheaper. Someone lit a match near his think tank, suppose?
