We Progressive Liberals have been training these people for DECADES just to get your and our extra tax money. Now you got us. I guess we have to go to Plan B.
Could this be your Plan B?

Now apparently it would have been OK with some people to just leave the tax rate lower and continue deficit spending and continue to run the city/county into further debt but apparently grownups decided that it was necessary to actually PAY for the services that were required to run a city instead of passing the DEBT to future generations.

The Walmart example is a red herring. People are so desperate for work they will work for whatever jobs there are, even if those jobs don't meet a living wage. That has nothing to do with the sales tax issue.
And I suppose you also claim that we need the illegal immigrants because we natives just won't do the work.

Perhaps they should just take all the money and divide it as they deem appropriate. We're approaching that anyways . . .

I understood what you wrote. I just disagree that it has anything to do with the Cook County sales tax issue.

Since only 1.75% [new rate] or .75% [old rate] is a COOK County tax, the Walmart issue is mostly inconsequential regarding the sales tax since the very majority of the [soon] 10.25% exists for either the entire state or the six county Chicago metroplex which encompasses all the surrounding counties where Walmarts were built.

Thus my point.

Actually that is part of MY Plan B. Last house, built in shop/business with office. No payments after 2012.

As for sucking all the new tax dollars from all of us that have done well, I think the new Plan B is going to be to just pay off the Interest and National Debt that Ron and George and George ran up so our kids and grandkids and their kids can have a fighting chance of doing it right, without backbreaking debt from the Trickledown Bush Boys.

Seems like a fair thing to do.

Fair, I know you will have to look up the word but it's pretty easy. I think about.com even has it.

Economics school or class? Either way I dont remember anything about it in either my public education in California or my college courses at Northern Illinois University.

The problem with Chicago is the same as the rest of the state of Illinois, corruption.

Too, we have a case here of the tail wagging the dog(Chicago running Illinois) that does not do anyone any good here in this state.

Every tax payer here in Illinois pays for the Chicago Transit Authority because Chicago cant seem to run a bus system that is free from corruption(that nasty little word again) and is purpetually in the red. A bus system I and many others pay for but will most likely never use.
