I saw (and heard) the P4 race on the old Nürburgring Nordschleife (Northern Loop).
I think the GT 40's were there too, one with the distinctive Dan Gurney bubble.
It was a time, when the ego maniacs Henry Ford and Enzo Ferrari had their epic battles.

How about a little adrenaline rush, one lap BMW GTR3 with Hans Stuck on the old ring: BMW M3 GTR - Hans Joachim Stuck 2004 - Nurburgring - AOL Video

Audi R8

A good German friend of mine works for VW, he meet me in Singapore about a month ago and he said he took one of these out for a test drive at the factory a couple of months ago. They have a Lamborgihini drive train and engine in them, sound awesome and run like the wind......

Actually, I think it's the other way around. Audi owns Lambo, and I'm pretty sure the latter has the former's running gear.

Audi R8 to me is ugly. A melted blob with a two tone ring around its belly. Some Ferrari's are quite attractive but the legend far out paces the reality in so many departments. SLR has weird proportions. There really isn't any super car right now that is appealing to me other than a DB9 or DBS, which may not be a super car because the car actually functions as a car. The small Aston looks like a tailored dwarf. The old 911 looks really good right now, maybe the best it has ever looked since intro.
Ironically it is the sedans that seem to rule the world of taste at this point. The M5, the E63, the '09 Cadillac CTS V, and '08 Mitsubishi Evo MR all look great. The Corvette ZR1 looks good but I wouldn't go so far as to say great. Lots of wonderful choices out there but the R8 isn't one of them. My guess is that it will sell fairly well.

Audi R8 crowned Car of the Year

An excerpt from the article below:

Inspired by Audi's highly successful Le Mans race car, the R8 is a two-seat road version and the first mid-engine sports car produced by Audi. It comes with a light-weight all-aluminum chassis, a Lamborghini based, 4.2-litre V8 that can produce 420 h.p. and Audi's renowned Quattro all-wheel-drive system.

^Shane: I don't care for its looks much either. In fact, I don't like the look of most new Audi's, w/ that "big mouth" front end...

Yes Automobile Magazine gave the R8 that and design of the year too. I disagree, but I always agreed with them that the 90-96 300ZX TT was the finest sports car of its time.

I agree the big grill doesn't work. It doesn't work because the front bumper intrusion beam must go across it, hence the area for the license plate is actually always there to cover the beam. Stupid. It would work to me if it was all grill with no breaks but that cannot safely be done. Typical Audi in regards to the old premise of promising more than you can deliver.
