Anerican chocolate is too greasy, and too sweet.

Peruvian chocolate is better than anything, even the Swiss, Belgian and German.

Best chocolate I ever had, bar none, (no pun intended!!!) was the La Iberica brand, which has its factory, and factory store in Arequipa, Peru.

It is perfect, just right. It is well known to everone in Peru, as the best there is.

Unfortunately, it is not exported. That is why Peruvian-Americans that visit "home" ALWAYS stock up on it, and when I went there, AWAYS did.

"Last chance" buyers can get it at the Jorge Chavez International Airport in Lima, but the selection there is not as good, as at the factory store in Arequipa.

They have a website, but none is exported here.

When I lived in San Francisco, when I visited Ghirardelli Square, (usually showing tourists the City, which I know VERY well) I would always stop by the Ghirardelli chocolate factory store which was there.

The best deal going there is the barrels there with "broken" chocolate bars, where you can get the best chocolate bars, for real cheap, if a chocolate bar
that has been broken doesn't hurt your feelings.

Ohoura was black as the night, and Kirk was whiter than white, and when Kirk got a taste of Ohoura's brown sugar, he was hooked overnight.

They're much better! Why?

What's your favorite chocolate?
i'm basically strict lindt consumer although i will pick up a toblerone here and there. it's the beat sugar for one and i think the euro chocolate has more pure cocoa in it.

I'd agree that American milk chocolate is better overall than milk chocolate from other countries. There are exceptions to everything though.

IMO everything in Europe is better because it is not sugar-laden like it is here. I love Ben & Jerry but it is soooooo fucking sweet. Try Hortex in Poland. All the flavor and half the sugar. Same goes with chocolate. I prefer bittersweet to milk chocolate. Hershey's is inedible. There is some good American chocolate though, go to Macy's and pick up a 1/2 pound of fudge. Bring your checkbook and a spooge towel because you'll blow your load after the first bite.
