When I turn the computer on the monitor light goes green then orange
No beeps heard
Yes, i heard the fan going

If I press one of the buttons on the monitor it will say, "computer is in power save mode press any key or move mouse to exit"

The lights are inbetween the 2 USB ports and the earphones plug. Thanks for the help

sounds to me like you have hardware failure, does it go to windows?
now if you can get to windows in safe mode you can try a system restore this will be a date you can pick to an earlier date when it was working good.
youll need to go start programs systems and click system restore pick an earlier date when was working.
then it will restart and should be good

if not sound like you have lost some data or its conflicting so you can also do this.
go to control panel click device manager click display if it shows working ok then its another one try mouse and keyboard too see if all are ok.

if none of this work you can try reinstalling the version on windows your using xp or vista
this will fix the damaged software issues

When I turn the computer on it does absoultly nothing. I have to press the menu button on the monitor to even get the power saver message.

I got no messages at all just the "windows has shut down to prevent damage to your computer" on the big blue screen this afternoon when I moved the mouse.

I can't get to the windows screen, I can't get to anything at all.

Do you know how to swap hardrives? Like take the one you have on this faulty computer and put it in the other one you mentioned that you have? or make it a slave drive?

No, I don't know how to do that. It seems this isn't a easy fix so I'll just take it to a shop tomorrow morning. Thanks for your help. I'll let you know what the shop says.

Good idea. If your Boot CD spun up but wouldn't load, you have a hardware problem that you won't be able to deal with tonight.
