"POST" means Power-On Self Test. If you never see a logo or any display, you don't hear the hard drive or fans spin, and you don't hear beeps, your problem is one of a pure electrical nature. Possibly a bad power supply...might not be too tough to fix this, and your data would be in-tact.
Another thing you can do is try to unplug virtually everything within the computer that is a power cord (these should be easy to spot - black, yellow, and red cables with big white connectors on the end). With everything disconnected, see if you can hear the power supply fan spin when you power on. If so, try reconnecting the motherboard (the connectors only go on one way, so don't force anything) and power it on...see if you hear the same clicking. Then, add the hard drive back into the mix. Keep the monitor connected. If it's a peripheral that has failed in a bad way, with it disconnected, you should see the computer get further along the "POST" sequence.
I think it's your power supply.
