Clemens in Congress

The NFL and MLB should take care of their own problems! F1 has a real governing body that deals with rule violations. Its called the FIA! They are far from perfect and have even distracted the daily chaos of the Italian government with the Senna murder trail. Yet the MLB and NFL are relying on the US congress to solve petty rule infringements and it's nothing but a waste of time and tax payer's dollars.

The last thing any US congressman needs right now is to be preoccupied with some cheaters in the NFL and some steroid users in MLB. I know these congressmen love having their faces plastered on Fox News as they seem to be very concerned about performance enhancing drug use. Give a congressman any distraction at all from what they should be doing and they will run with it! Its just ridiculous.

Who cares if Clemens mainlined steroids? We all know the Patriots have been cheaters, Belicheck admitted that he has been video taping defensive signals since the start of his coaching career. Why should congress get involved? The NFL and MLB should levy some real fines (re: Mclaren's '07 $100 million fine and loss of constructor points) and be done with it.

Congress should be aware of what is really important, we've got a war that will never end going on here and they are worried about some dumbass jock Now that's political progress.

Baseball and football have federal anti-trust exemptions. It's their job to step in. In this regard, congress = FIA. Don't like it? Write your senator.

It is a thoroughgoing disgrace that certain Congressmen are so focused on these trivial matters. However, it's to Americans' credit that they recognize this, and the response has been consistently derisive of said Congressmen.

There is scarcely anything in the world that some man cannot make a little worse, and sell a little more cheaply. The person who buys on price alone is this man's lawful prey. --John Ruskin
