I am considering Geo Metro

Actually two of them, his and hers!
I want a toy that I can pull the engine on a kitchen table and rebuild it, I think that's a nice fantasy, don't you think?
I priced out some used ones under $2K and found engine rebuilding kits for less than $400 or complete used engines for like $600 to 800 (4 cylinders, not the three). Control arms: cheap, trans: cheap too.
Maybe this way I will drive the big one on occasion when we have to visit family and not get embarrassed

Seriously, what do you think of the Geo Metro idea? I was about to get a CLK and an SLK as a his/hers combo but having the opportunity to rebuilt an engine in one evening and save some serious $$ at the pump is giving me an anxiety attack (for real). Hell, by the time my boys are ready to learn driving they can have the Metros and bang the shit out off them without me getting a hissyfit. In the mean time I could use them as commuter cars and hell even experiment with "mine" and install LPG which I always wanted to check out. I got a toy, which is my Rx7 but I don't want to mess that one up; as to my Benz I really want to use that like once a week just to keep it happy but I am getting tired of two fill ups a week at $65 a pop.

I would say if you like working on them more than driving them, yeah do it.

I hate working on cars even though I come from a long line of gear heads. I do enjoy tinkering but that's about it.

as for the Geo ( I hate to say this to a professor) Do your homework!
