The one that really infuriates me is the couple I know who filed for bankruptcy. They were permitted to keep their house and their new cars, everything really, and they got new credit cards right away, moved to a new town and bought a new house. NO problems whatever. And if that weren't enough, I sent them money twice in the past year. Because they are smart and I am stupid.

No, I've never met anyone, but he sounds like he's had a tough life.

specific tangentials would be those actual events/folks that touch you life, as opposed to the abstract philosophical concepts of which you referred.

Glad you brought those up. That is why I put the part about adding to the conversation at the beginning.

I think those three are every bit as significant as any of the list I made up. I only listed that first group to get things started. I will add yours to the list. I have known women who have suffered through domestic violence and sexual assault and both men and women who have been involved in child molestation [though only after one committed suicide].

No big impact on anything I think, though it did confirm my conclusions on the rewards of doing stupid things. The bankruptcy was a relative who spent irresponsibly, and, as Marsden mentioned in his experience, basically got off scott free.
