The castle was the brainchild of a guy that married into big horse money about 35 years ago. He built most of it in about 6 years. Then he got divorced. I am guessing either OCD or just Bad Taste. Anyway, it sat empty for about 20 years.

Finally a guy from Florida bought it to put up a B&B and built it up to near completion. A welder managed to light it on fire on my wife's birthday in 04. We saw it as we were coming home from dinner and just sat and watched.

The guy rebuilt and it is just about ready to open.

Trivia, just to the left and behind the Castle about 1 mile is Congressman Ben Chandler's farm. It formally belonged to his Grandfather, AB "Happy" Chandler who was US Senator, Governor, and Baseball Commissioner.

Actually US and about 200 other cars that were stuck in traffic so we just all pulled into the large church parking lot and hung out til it was over. Every media for miles showed up, 20 fire trucks, a bunch of folks were helping with herding the horses from the paddocks that surround the Castle to another farm. And these were your basis Million dollar horses that couldn't just wander around. They are too stupid and too valuable.

When??

Sorry wrong question and wrong thread.

Yes, I did the McAllister DNA track a couple of years back. While I can track back to 980 for that family there are gaps, mostly once they came to America in the 1800s as they apparently traveled more than I do. And at least my GGfather was, from what I can tell dropped into Claiborne County Tennessee by Alien Spaceship as I can find no record of him going in or coming out, just having two kids.

For the Bryants, there is not nearly the records but they appear to have come from Normandy area in the 1600s and wandered up into SE England and stayed til 1740 when my group came to America and Kentucky and came to Kentucky with Mr Boone. They founded what is now historically called Bryan's Station and changed its name in 1776 to Lexington. His brother lived down the road [now US 27] in Bryantsville which was founded in 179something.

And part of that original family had a Second Cousin Paul who coached at UK in the 1940s. As YOU know, Paul was better known as Bear.

So I have ghosts hanging around Central Kentucky for the past 250 years.
