Ferrari 430 Spider Bio-Fuel Concept: What a waste!
Sorry, but Ferrari and bio-fuel are an oxymoron to me. Reports indicate that Ferrari will unveil an E85 ethanol-powered version of the 430 Spider tomorrow at the North American International Auto Show. Labeled the 430 Spider Bio Fuel, the roadster runs on the familiar mix of 85% natural ethanol and 15% gasoline, which reports suggest yield a modest 2% increase in power. That’s enough to bring the 4.3-liter V8’s output up to 500 from the standard 490 with torque rising 4% and fuel economy improving by 5%. Why do they bother?
Proof of performance, expanding the envelope, having the balls to continue to lead technology instead of follow.
Audi it releasing a V12 Diesel in their top performance car either at NAIAS or Berlin. If it is at Detroit I will have pics.
"...lead"? It seems to me that they are just jumping (very late) on the old green bandwagon to "look good." If they truly wanted to lead they would not be jumping on the old bio fuel bandwagon. They would be developing a new, more effective, technology for the future. At best it appears that they have come late to the party. It's 5:00a and everyone went home at midnight, IMO.

But I'd love to see pics if it's in Detroit!
You know of another 500HP Green Machine [other than the Art Arfons' Green Monster - which the last one strangely wasn't green].
Actually Ferrari are developing Hybrid with regenerative brake power [monster torque] and I also saw a deal with them and Hydrogen.
Anyway, the just passed away Art Arfons and his Green Monster
