Home lights/security controls: x10, Insteon, something else?

Do you guys automate your houses?

If so, what is the preferred/best way?

I am playing with x-10 stuff now.

I can turn lights off and on by remote. I can dim lights too.

She is impressed - so far.

I like the satisfaction and sense of control coming from turning the lights on and off myself.

The exterior and landscape lights, however, are controlled by Lutron and Leviton programmable timers.
