I remember thinking that the Winter Olympics would not happen that year, but Romney came from out of nowhere and quite literally saved the day--and the US Winter Olympics. So you call an obviously craven political calculation to win votes "changing his mind"? He's all yours. Obama will chew him up and spit him out like your old lady after a blow job.

Recall that earlier generations faced down fascism and communism not just with missiles and tanks, but with sturdy alliances and enduring convictions. They understood that our power alone cannot protect us, nor does it entitle us to do as we please. Instead, they knew that our power grows through its prudent use; our security emanates from the justness of our cause, the force of our example, the tempering qualities of humility and restraint.

Thanks for the clarification. I should have looked it up, but I knew it was something like that.

Yes, I do know the history of the presidents. Started voting for them in the late 60s. But you forget Sen JOHNSON. And Sen. NIXON. [details are so important].

Re: the Big Dig, I was thinking more of the corruption scandal that erupted in 2003 and continued through 2006 involving Bechtel, the Primary contractor for the project, and the many Contributions that Romney has taken from Parsons Brinckerhoff and Bechtel National, the government services subsidiary of Bechtel Corp, and not just the history of the project.

Had Romney been involved in anything remotely related to your wet dream I strongly suspect that might have come up in the race to date... Don't you?

As much as it pains me, I must agree with FTL on this one. Both Romney and Guiliani have far too much shape shifting and skeletons in their closet and will be viewed as associated with the party that has failed to rein in their corrupt and big government. Thompson would be electable, but he is uninspired, apparently, and underfunded at this time (methinks he has also pissed off the party machine at times as well).

Well, I have found that the weepublicans are a bit skittish about bringing up each others donors. It has a ugly way of backfiring. Much like we have not heard any of the Democratic candidates bringing up Hillary's donor Norman Hsu. Now, when it comes time for the General Election, and all those "fact based" attack ads, I would just bet that it does come up on ol' Mitt, much like it will come up on Hillary, should she be the candidate.

All you have to do is google [Romney | Bechtel | contributions] and you can see what the company, its subsidiaries, its president Steven Bechtel and others in the corporation have given to the Romney campaign. That search also gives a bunch of articles discussing the various issues surrounding the Big Dig, the cost overruns [most not Romney's fault], the boondoggle, the collapse and the interesting investigations and their connections.

I just wonder if Thompson is sticking around to hook up as VP for someone. It seems like the only reason he has at this point. I have the same thought on Richardson.

I think tomorrow will set up the "end" for a couple more of these guys. If they don't produce the money will just dry up. There is enough uncertainty in the economy that no one is going to dump money into a campaign just because it feels good.

Well, Thompson is not playing in NH, and he admits it. His target is SC, or so I read. A lot of if's for him, but if he last until the southern states come into play, his message and demeanor will serve him well. Not sure he'll make it, though.
