Only a conviction will remove a sitting President from office.

Yep, the anti-war poster boy, who turned right around and voted for the bonehead hostage rescue of our people during the Iranian hostage crisis that had zero chance of success and ended up killing 8 of our servicemen. This, after the military command vehemently disapproved of the plan.

I have to wonder why it is that anyone cares a whit about what George McGovern says. The man is old, and senile, he is as sharp now as Jimmy Carter was on one of his best days.... (Can anyone say sharp as a donut?)

..."some of us" ?, Ron, you are lifting your skirt on yourself and your liberal colleagues who spend 24/7 on this site. I truly enjoy the mental gymnastics that you go thru to make yourself so erudite (yes, I did look that word up) . You must all be disgruntled professors (hopefully retired) who no longer have a captured audience for pontification. Or, you could be in a cave somewhere in Northern Pakistan with your colleagues tapping away at this.....who would know? The net (particulary this forum) gives "some of us" a soapbox for verbiage they wound'nt admit to on any street corner or cocktail party anywhere in the US. Thanks

^ See, now that's the spirit (well, sort of). Kudos on posting an entire paragraph without invoking the name of you-know-who. Well done.

Do yourself a favor and buy a US History book. You must have missed yours when they were handing them out for free back in high school. Andrew Johnson, the George Bush of his times, was impeached. He was acquitted in the Senate by one vote, a huge tragedy for this country because it prevented the removal of a s typical Southern bigot from office and was much responsible for many of the gains made in the Civil War from being lost, putting this country into the 100-yr nightmare until the arrival of Martin Luther King.

Recall that earlier generations faced down fascism and communism not just with missiles and tanks, but with sturdy alliances and enduring convictions. They understood that our power alone cannot protect us, nor does it entitle us to do as we please. Instead, they knew that our power grows through its prudent use; our security emanates from the justness of our cause, the force of our example, the tempering qualities of humility and restraint.

Thank you...it was difficult, I'll have to do it with pictures and avatars like your cronies do! They must be aware that the conspiracy to take away our rights does incorporate sophisticated word recognition equipment that could track them to their cave doorstep!

anyway, heres one for all you bashers!

Any reasonable person who took the time to actually read the text of what he wrote would see that it is an articulate article, presented with logic, facts, and reason.

Childish schoolyard name-calling does not change that one bit.

Old George is a non starter, sorry you feel otherwise.
The only place an article like that would be printed is the New York Times, which of course it was.
There is no chance what-so-ever that Bush will be Impeached, so why bother printing such tripe unless you want to start more controversy, and of course try to sell more newspapers to those that want to read nonsense like that?
No matter how "reasoned" the logic, it is illogical to present an hypothesis that has no chance of being followed up with any serious intent. There is no time, no money, and there are not enough in the Congress that are willing to take that idea anywhere….
