CNN is calling Obama with 75% of the vote in on the Democratic side.

Obama 36
Edwards 31
Clinton 30
Nobody else above 2

Election Center 2008: Primary Results - Elections & Politics news from CNN.com

Republican numbers still at 40% in.

Republicans with 65% of the vote in:

Huckabee 34
Romney 25
Thompson 14
McCain 13
Paul 10
Rudy 4
Hunter 0

Suddenly Fox's Prevost is looking interesting in New Hampshire.

What will be interesting is to learn the percentage of crossovers in the IA results. It's possible to change one's registration right up to this evening. So it's possible that a Dem could change reg, go vote for Huckabee, then change back to Dem. Same true the other direction.

Dems also play with different rules. If a candidate doesn't make 15% in the first polling, he's out and his attendees have to redistribute themselves to the remaining candidates. That's why we don't see any of the lower votes for Dems like we do the Repubs.

Repubs just do and report votes one time.

So far the most interesting numbers I have seen this evening are these.
IOWA
2,054,843 total registered voters --
31% Democratic, 30% Republican, 39% Independent

So, do the Independents get to vote in these caucuses or are they boxed out like in many states? Anyone know?

EDIT: After looking at the Iowa Sec of State website and the official Voter Registration form, there is no place for Independent registration, only Green, Libertarian and NO Party. I assume those three are clumped together to aggregate the Independent numbers.

After reading the rules for how the caucuses are run, it is a wonder that any candidate would spend the money or political capital to go there for that type of contest. Have Hawkeyes never heard of the Primary system?

KV is right about the GOP. The Dems will fix the Iowa mistake and nominate Clinton or Edwards but the Republicans are still searching for a leader and Iowa just made that more difficult. It may not get sorted out in NH.

Tuesday is New Hampshire and the 15th is Michigan which everyone has ignored. There should be an interesting sort out by that point. Michigan should be straight Economy as they have been hit so hard by both the SubPrime AND the Auto industry offshoring. They also have fewer fundi's so Huckabee won't quite have the run he had tonight.

Edwards is an unelectable, maudlin, hack.
Clinton is a haggard vote whore, but she might be able to Gillooly Obama before it's all said and over with.

As to the Republican race, that is WIDE open, and should probably be retitled 'Who's The Biggest Looser'.
