As for the private sector doing a better job, just look at the multi TRILLION Dollar fiasco in the Housing, Finance and Credit sectors and explain to me again how the security of 300 Million Americans are MORE secure in the hands of these folks? Once this particular crisis settles, maybe next year now, you will have seen TENS of TRILLIONS of wealth VANISH. And not just "on paper".
First, I'll agree with you about GW and the first 6 years. He had an opportunity to fix a number of things, and reduce the size of government overall, and failed.

On the other hand, if we don't look at SS and call it what it is, another socialistic government fiasco, and learn the lessons from it, namely that the government has no business trying to take care of people, we will repeat the mistake over and over . . .

More BEAR SHIT! Do you really think using CAPS will make your BS look more accurate. You're well aware that a majority does not = the super-majority needed to override a filibuster, which the President faced every year that he has been in office. And his efforts went well into the democrap majority in Congress. But YOU KNOW THAT and insist on posting your Bear Shit anyway. I am quickly losing respect for that kind of phony crap. You need to get a life and some honesty in your posts. It does not become you...

Don't believe everything you think

The Republican Senate had control of the Rules, control of the Committees, Control of the Process. The Republican House had control of the Budget after it was submitted by the President, control of the Committees and Control of the Process for SIX YEARS. Apparently CAPS are required to point out that Bushie failed to enact ANY Social Security Reform in that period. Also note [by Googling the subject] that the MAJORITY of people did not approve of Bush's plan for the Social Security system. There might have been some other plan to look at but as we know Mr. "Stay the Course" tended to be unwilling to negotiate or compromise to get a plan that everyone could work with. I have been following this since 1999 and it has been driving me nuts since then. The problem with the Privatization concept was amplified in 1999-2000 as the bill to try and do that very thing collided with the crash of the dot.com stock market which flagged everyone that maybe this was not such a great idea. Now, as they try and do the same thing, we have yet another object lesson in not putting all our eggs in one basket.

A good thing for all of us to do in the meantime is.....TURN OFF THE TV.

Get informed on stuff like this through books and alt. news and be ready to raise holy-hell if this government tries any shady shenanigans under the guise of "helping the elderly"..they love to cloak their real intentions behind some heart-warming issue to fool the masses into submission.

the power is in the people.

Ted Turner, a devoult occultist and freemason, called the majority of the planets population "Useless Eaters" and he has no problem with mass deaths around the world because as he puts it, it's not enough to go around(for the rich). and you can bet he will have his hands in all of this too..

no wonder Jane Fonda left him. he's a complete and total wackjob.
