In memory of Emily

My dog, Emily who had been with me 11 years, passed away this afternoon after two weeks fighting pancreatitis. She was the most important thing in my life for the last 4 years after my divorce. I was with her last night till 1:00 in the morning, called the doctor this morning and all her vitals were good. The doctor even said she will be coming home New Year's Eve. Then at noon, the doctor called that she went into a cardiac attack. They were doing everything they could but she was not responding. She passed away before I got to the hospital.

I am totally lost. I feel guilty that I was not there this morning. I planned on visiting her first thing in the morning like I have been doing everyday since she was hospitalized but I over slept. I did not even have a chance to say good-bye. And the worse thing is that she died in a strange place with strangers. I am not sure I can live with those guilt.

You will be fine, just cry your heart out tonight and get yourself a puppy as soon as you can.

I'm very sorry to hear about your loss. I've never been good with words, otherwise I'd insert something more meaningful here.

Hey Elau, sorry to hear the sad news. From what I have read she was clearly a very special pet and companion to you. There is,however,no reason at all for you to feel any guilt. You surely have done all in your power to provide her a happy and long life.Spend some time grieving, but then, choose yourself a new pet and let all your memories of Emily be happy ones.

Sorry elau -- very sad. But do remember that she led a good long life, and that you did your best by her. No one is perfect, and it's silly to beat yourself up for being less than perfect. All any of us can do is our best, and I'm sure you did just that by your beloved pup.

The worst possible news, Elau. I am sorry for your loss.

You took Emily to that Doctor for a reason. She received the best care and in the end, I would think they made her as comfortable as possible as they cared for her.

Likely as not, we turn into blubbering children when our pets pass on and they take their cues from us so perhaps it's better when we are not there.

I dunno.

It would be hard to say it better than that.
