Pakistan is a nuclear armed country... the motivations for an assassination are easy to see.

Destabilization.

Several touched on this earlier. It is bigger than Bhutto and Musharraf, they are both targets and a means to an end. ...if Musharraf can't find a way to get the train stopped, or if he is in turn assassinated, America will find itself deep into another fist fight. Musharraf should have done more, ironically, to protect his political foe. Bhutto blaming Musharraf for her eventual assassination is like gold to the terrorists... seeds of dissent are sewn... and terrorists are the only ones who stand to gain from it...

So jayhawk, what happened to the "terrorist on the run" or being gutted out like your beloved leaders of war have been proclaiming? Has this WOT been a real success? Is "democracy" safer now? Have we won the minds and hearts of the brown people?

If you haven't seen The Kingdom, rent it. Very good perspective on terrorism from both sides.
