Its funny, I sold a friend a 17" Toshiba Laptop I rebuilt my self from scratch. All the bells and whistles one could need. He called me two weeks later talking about a bunch of pop-ups and such. I said you have a virus and needed to fix it, but do not get on the internet. He called me and said, now I can't get on the wireless internet why not. I said you have to click the button on the side but don't do it because you haven't fixed the virus problem. He still clicked it anyway. The computer crashed while we where on the phone. He said he didn't know he had to turn on Virus Protection and Spyware Blocker.
I purchased the laptop back from him, pissed off. When I got it back it had 120 virus's and trojans. I ended up re-writing the entire drive loosing over $5,000 in personal applications which took me 3 months to get.
People some times really don't know that before logging on the internet they have to make sure these protections are turned on. I had to help dozens of friends fix their computers as well as their routers which COX cable, blocked them because of virus's.
Macs have always no matter what been better at catching virus's. I use both and with a few exceptions have ever gotten a virus do to my knowledge base, but when you go wireless virus's will find an open port and load them selves so its always safer to go to websites you trust. Thats some times the only real way to protect your computer.
