This a great example of typical liberal practice. In this case there were no laws or rules broken, but liberal-think just claims serious charges which justify investigation. So where the evidence doesn't justify the probe, the "serious of the charge" does. Another example of this is the probe of the firing of the federal attorneys. No one yet has found any wrong-doing and the probe goes on by Congress because it seems that there had to be a political motive.
The Democrat led Congress has yet to finish funding the government because it's too occupied with investigations, probes, submitting and re-submitting bills for GW's veto.
What is this, am I hearing a new, characteristic whine from the right wingers complaining with righteous indignation about their right wing Fuehrer being investigated by the new Democratic Congress? I mean, is it what we are to expect for the next year or so? Whining about investigations into unconstitutional practices by the executive branch that make America look like a land of lying thugs? What, no specific law against making America look like that? Hey, at one point that argument was used by Ford to suggest there was no specific law against exploding gas tanks in the cars. Solid logic - how did that turn out for product liability cases?
I am less concerned about funding the government, personally, than I am with conducting the government in accordance with the US Constitution. Congress has the authority and responsibility to conduct oversight of the executive branch. This responsibility has been too long ignored, and there is much to investigate as a result. I personally would like to see all the funding for the war end, and if that is because Congress doesn't get around to passing a budget, well, that meets my criteria for not funding the war. Bush can't even veto that.
Get used to vigorous and visible Congressional oversight. It is back. Let's hear how you still hate it when there is a Democrat in the White House, as, without the same feeling that vigorous oversight by Congress is useless and unneeded when there is a Democrat in the White House, it would seem all this smelly goo you have been spattering this thread with is little more than the puss of a partisan political zit that popped.
