When we transition from the self-labeled neocons to applying it like hairspray is when it becomes Limbaughesque. I doubt the person who first penned the term, "liberal" would recognize those who currently self-describe as such nor the people that Limbaugh seeks to impugn with that term.
If the White Knight moves before the major parties' nominees get thoroughly trashed then he will also become the focus of trashing. Ask Perot and Nader about that. Unfortunately for them, neither Perot nor Nader had the luxury of time. Bloomberg does. But has Bloomberg got the self-discipline NOT to get into it?
Maybe that's why Bloomberg is talking to Obama. Maybe Bloomberg thinks that Clinton will win the Democrat nomination. Then Bloomberg can "triangulate" between the Repo's Wacko and Cliton. And by drafting Obama to be his VP, Bloomberg sucks the life out of the looney left. Then who will Cliton have -- Repos? Not a freaking chance. The Bloomberg Obama ticket would force Clinton to go farther left to keep the activist Democrats in her fold. But going left will alienate more than half of the independents.
I'm betting a Bloomberg-Obama post-primary insurgency bankrolled by Bloomberg's billions.
I hate the Neo-con label too, I'd much rather call them by their proper idealogical label: Nazis.
Recall that earlier generations faced down fascism and communism not just with missiles and tanks, but with sturdy alliances and enduring convictions. They understood that our power alone cannot protect us, nor does it entitle us to do as we please. Instead, they knew that our power grows through its prudent use; our security emanates from the justness of our cause, the force of our example, the tempering qualities of humility and restraint.
