What Was The Point Of Mitt's Speech?
Soo, for some reason Romney and his camp decided that he should make enough of an issue out of his faith that he should make a speech on the topic - during which he seemed to completely avoid discussing his faith. While he says he's a Mormon, and doesn't seem to shy from that, he sure is hard pressed to talk about why he's a Mormon.
The cynic in me, knowing what I know about LDS, says a Mormon is unelectable. It's only slightly less quackeristic than Scientology.
Going beyond that though, if you are going to say you're a Mormon, and you are going to allow an issue to be made of it, doesn't it say worlds about you if you refuse yourself the chance to talk about why?
That sends the message you're either A) too ashamed of the nonsense you believe in to talk about it because you know it doesn't stand scrutiny, or B) you have allowed others to make critical decisions regarding extremely valuable and important matters without so much as challenging them on it.
Is this too harsh?
