The darker car seems to be coming to a stop during that time.

I would guess suicide.
Highlight "graphic" waring to the link.
About possible avoiding the accident by white car driver. This is not something they teach at driving schools. 99.999 % of drivers will freeze.
this guy was pulling over..

White car lit up his brakes hard for a second or more. He knew it was coming but wouldn't know which way to zig.

Being smart is knowing the difference, in a sticky situation between a well delivered anecdote and a well delivered antidote - bear.

Brutal.
Had me thinking about what my response would have been.
Swerving to the left inadvisable due to possible loss of control .
Pulling over to the right and stopping seems to be the best option.
From the braking, I don't think the driver in the white car even
noticed the oncoming until 1 sec before impact.

It appears the white car froze in panic. The lunatic in the Altima should have just taken his own life and not another. Makes you wonder what you would have done different.

I'm with you there Shane,
I presume the white car driver hoped? thought? that the other vehicle was going to pass in front of him and off the road.
At least the poor bastard knew nothing about it.
