There used to be a place a few blocks away on 42nd/Madison called 'Dollar Bill's' which had loads of designer labels at really reduced prices. I never once found anything that I either liked or was my size. I guess I'm a popular size, 42L.

There's a sale on our gabardine suits today.
They're all thirty percent off from yesterday.
There's Fortrel polyester, leather, wool and tweed.
Just a Visa or Mastercard is all you need.
We've got every color, we've got ev'ry shade.
We're located next door to Willy's Fun Arcade.
We got every fabric that was ever made,
But I'm known in this city as the King of Suede.

We got portly and regular and extra-long.
(Is my size up there?)
We got tailors to fix it, if it comes out wrong.
(Is my size up there?)
We got all kinds of sweatshirts, you can take your pick.
(Is my size up there?)
With the collars ripped off, like that Flashdance flick.
(Is my size up there?)

Our prices are low, my staff is underpaid.
You can buy off the rack, or have it custom made,
And it's all guaranteed to never shrink or fade,
'Cause of my reputation as the King of Suede.

If you need a tuxedo for your junior prom,
(Is my size up there?)
We can get you the best one that's made in Taiwan.
(Is my size up there?)
We got jackets with patches on the elbows, too.
(Is my size up there?)
And we'll sell 'em all factory-direct to you.
(Is my size up there?)

Well, I never made it past the second grade.
It took all of my life for me to learn this trade.
But my friends are all thinking that I've got it made,
'Cause I'm known the world over as the King of Suede.

There's a two-for-one sale on our three-piece suits.
Check out our suede pajamas and our suede-covered boots.
You can try on our suede underwear if you choose.
Do what you want, but don't step on my blue suede shoes.

King of Suede.

Don't miss out on our giant liquidation sale.
(Is my size up there?)
Look for our color catalog in next week's mail.
(Is my size up there?)
There's a sale on our double-knit slacks today.
It's the same old sale as yesterday.

Thirty years in the same location I have stayed,
There I am, right next door to Willy's Fun Arcade.
I got tough competition but I'm not afraid,
'Cause it's my destiny to be the King of Suede.

King of Suede.
King of Suede.
King of Suede.
I'll always be King of Suede.
I'll always be King of Suede

word

I only wear suits once or twice a year, hence I've been getting them from Brooks Brothers - stodgy but never out of style, looks better as my gray hair increases.

Otherwise, I wear this 3 days out of 4:

Carhartt - Product - Duck Chore Coat/Blanket Lined

Columbia from top to bottom. Great quality. Awesome business story. People who wear suits are scarier than shit. Mannequins of death.

Nao, I was going to say Brooks Bothers. I love their Leather Jackets, real classy and vintage to the cut. No one here has shopped at TODAYS MAN. I love that place, real nice clothing for a great price. Not the cheapest but not expensive and the material used to make the mans shirts are the best. The ties are long lasting. The pants are well made and have a nice bottom cut to them with pockets that hold things like keys and change really well.

I will admit I don't wear suits any more and have no need for them, so I gave all of my own away, but as general cloths shopping is concerned I love going to vintage thrift stores. Great selection of vintage Leather Jackets. I purchased a brand new Leather and don't like it nearly as much as the 2 I purchased at an Antique Market in New York.

Drew, thats funny you mentioned grabbing your work cloths out your wifes closet, that's funny.....

QBNC, whats the most you would pay for a nice tailored suit?

Actually, right now 3-button is on its way out of style, being replaced by a 2 button single breasted look, but not quite the same one as you saw in the late 80's through to mid-90's because the buttons are now higher in the trunk, leaving less shirt exposed under the jacket.

For longevity buy classic styles, just like the CK you bought, in classic colours, just like you bought. Even if it goes out of style now, you can hang it up in yoru closet and wait for it to come back into style, which always will happen with classic style/colour combinations.

I would buy a suit or two on my annual trip to some European country, which I did before I had a kid. The good thing about getting your suits in Italy, France or the UK is that it was one year ahead of the style in North America, so you looked like you were ahead of the curve when you showed up in the suit.

Agreed!
That goes for shoes too, mine are all Italian made while my suits and Jackets are French. Oh, I also have some coats from the UK and even one Sherlock would have worn kinda of Victorian
