THe truth is finally revealed about who wanted Iraq War.......

Last week, Karl Rove went on the Charlie Rose Show and gave us a stunning revelation. You see, as it turns out, it wasn't Rove or Bush or Wolfowitz or Cheney or Rumsfeld who had their feet on the gas pedal when it came to beginning the war in Iraq. No, not at all. In fact, they were opposed to it.

Do you know who it was? The Democrats. Don't believe me. Just watch...

Kookberger memories are very short and very selective: I remember well the weeks leading up to the war w/ Iraq/Saddam and there was a definite push by Congress to do it. There was an election coming up and everyone wanted to look like a hawk (not Jayhawk) so as to boost there electablity. I distinctly recall the White House trying to apply the breaks because they did not want the invasion to look political. But NO, the democrats just couldn't wait. And look at them now...

Don't believe everything you think

Which breaks would these be? Breaking out with lies or breaking wind?

Recall that earlier generations faced down fascism and communism not just with missiles and tanks, but with sturdy alliances and enduring convictions. They understood that our power alone cannot protect us, nor does it entitle us to do as we please. Instead, they knew that our power grows through its prudent use; our security emanates from the justness of our cause, the force of our example, the tempering qualities of humility and restraint.

September 19, 2002:

President Bush to Send Iraq Resolution to Congress Today

THE PRESIDENT: "I am sending suggested language for a resolution. I want -- I've asked for Congress' support to enable the administration to keep the peace. And we look forward to a good, constructive debate in Congress. I appreciate the fact that the leadership recognizes we've got to move before the elections".

He was just trying to avoid a fight w/ Congress at a time when he wanted their support. He knew they wanted an issue to campaign on in October and was trying to look cooperative and congenial. It worked: They got what they wanted and he got what he wanted--just a couple months too soon. I recall that there was also an issue of weather in the timing of the invasion which was pushing them to move, but I distinctly recall thinking that President Bush really was trying to be deliberate but Congressional pressure was mounting because of the coming election in November.

So Bush was lying? No need to answer -- "keep the peace" pretty much says it all.

And let us not forget -- no vetoes and no congressional oversight for 6 years, GOP control over Congress was absolute.

Someone please explain how Bush's hands were tied by the Resolution, and that he had no choice but to command our soldiers to invade Iraq in March of 2003? This is entirely bullshit. I would suspect Rove of just trying to pump up interest in his book, but this is Rove, so I think he is also trying to manipulate those same weak minds he used to have on a puppet string from the White House, just for sport.

The march to invade Iraq was paced by Bush. He is the self declared "Decider" and "Commander Guy" who is solely authorized to direct our soldiers to invade other countries. He is the one who belittled the UN inspectors and their efforts, he is the one who directed Colin Powel to make his speech to the UN, he is the one who whipped up the public with his mushroom cloud projections. That was not Congress. It was the Decider, the Commander Guy. And Rove is merely amusing himself with the American people dumb enough to buy his bullshit. Like a cat playing with a disoriented mouse.
