^ I think that your response above is very honest and candid, and I think it highlights the difficulty you have relating to people predisposed to the scientific method.
You might be ignorant to the fact that a vast majority of scientists - especially astronomers and physicists - actually believe in a God.
The difference between you and them, is that they're not content with the oversimplification of our universe presented by the Bible - after all, we've learned lots of things in the past couple of thousand years. Athiests (and even Agnostics, like me) bristle at people who believe the Bible to be a holistic, definitive work of non-fiction whose accuracy with regard to the world around is above questioning. This is a very shallow, ignorant approach to take to the Bible - and it's the very reason so many people have died in the name of religion.
