^Nissan was on a role at that time, both the Z and the Q45 were built like the 70's era mercedes were known for. Even after 70k miles they wouldn't even think of rattling and flexing. All that structure takes steel and steel adds weight. Light weight is not the end all of all answer to everything automotive, especially in the normal traffic world.

Both cars were far ahead of their time and the Q was especially overlooked then and now. The Q had plenum shut valves that would create low end torque from a four cam engine. This tech is used by all the luxury manufactuers today. The Z and Q also offered four wheel steering that really did improve handling, but did it at a level very few people cared to experiment with.

Good idea, think of the exercise they'll get pushing it home after the crank position sensor fails once a month.

I'm attaching a picture of my "shoe" so you know I'm not just being a dick:

I think you and the boy have chosen really well TK. That was only sold as the TT version in Blighty and they were seriously fast cars, but more importantly I agree with Shane, they were really well screwed together. I very nearly got one myself! I think back in the day I read that the TT had a total of 8 radiators, but maybe I'm hallucinating.
So how many miles on the clock, does it have service history and how many dead presidents were required to secure it?
(Oh and incidently, which insurance company is best for young drivers?).
