Wrong.

Doubly so with Coulter, Limbaugh, Beck, O'Reilly, et al.

They're entertainers. Make your own judgement as to whether or not they're in fact any good as entertainers go.
When you listen or read Coulter, Limbaugh, Beck, O'Reilly, Dobson, Krystol, Bennett, et al and all they discuss is pro Republican/NeoCon [NewConfused], and anti Democrat/Liberal that is more than a claim, it is a profession of faith in the Republican party. And I note there are not other voices of more moderate stance coming up to question or repudiate the vitriolic hate coming from the far right which would suggest that the majority of the Republicans either agree or give tacit approval.

And they are not entertainers. They are paid to focus opinion and obfuscate truth to their side of an argument. It is not entertainment, It is their job.

The same could be said about the vastly left leaning traditional media outlets.

It's a two way street...

It is their profession of faith; their view for the party - nothing more, nothing less. To infer that their views are significantly representative of Republicans (I'm talking about the Reagan variety at least) or Conservatives is irresponsible.

1. Hello...??? What am I doing if not repudiating them?
2. I shouldn't need to, because we're too busy ignoring them for their bullshit to be relevant. Never occurred to most of us that anyone was taking them so seriously. After all, they're not exactly strapping bombs to their chests and blowing themselves and innocent people up in the name of "Conservatism".

Ask the question behind the question. Why are they paid to focus opinion and obfuscate truth? They're better than average at it.

How does a company - specifically, a media company - make money employing people who focus opinion and obfuscate truth?

A) People who do those things attract attention. On television, on radio, in print, eyeballs & ears = advertising dollars. This differentiates them from any other television presenter only in the method by which they go about attracting attention. It's a well crafted, effective model, but none of that means anything they say should be taken seriously unless your IQ is less than or equal to the temperature of whatever room you happen to find yourself.

Only a complete fucking imbecille places any credence in what these meat popsicles have to say, one way or the other. If they strike a genuine chord, or say something defensible, it's pure accident - kind of like putting a million monkeys in a room with a million typewriters. Eventually they'll do something remarkable, because the law of averages is a real law.

This whole thread is non-news.
You seem to be ignoring the reality that these people hold enormous power within your party.

Recall that earlier generations faced down fascism and communism not just with missiles and tanks, but with sturdy alliances and enduring convictions. They understood that our power alone cannot protect us, nor does it entitle us to do as we please. Instead, they knew that our power grows through its prudent use; our security emanates from the justness of our cause, the force of our example, the tempering qualities of humility and restraint.

We'll see how much power they wield come next November. I'm venturing a guess, that it's less than you're imagining.

Moveon.org and dailykos.org have equal or even more power than any of those above.

I really can't see what the problem is with letting one side speak their views. I probably disagree with 99% or more of what the above organizations say and do, but I acknowledge that right to exist.

November doesn't matter to them, they will always be there.

My point is, it will be evident come November '08 whether or not they've been able to sway the GOP in such a way that it is evident at the polls.

Again, it's probably more than nothing, but less than you think. I readily concede the "Jayhawk Quotient" results in a non-zero value.

Well, I certainly agree with that. The big question is whether or not the GOP can shake off the shackles of Jayhawkism and return to being a viable alternative for the average voter.

Seldom do the "vastly left wing" media outlets deal in swiftboating, hate speech and smear tactics.

For perspective I suggest you look at media analysis from outside the US and see how they view US media outlets on both left and right to see the difference. You can do a search on this board as it has been covered.
