So I guess Atlanta is looking better by the minute, Sly... :-)
Keep your chin up. My dad lives there, I'll have to call him later and see if he's affected.
Glad to see that this nation does have the capacity to handle natural disasters in an efficient manner. It's a testament to good city planning, and a lack of corruption - both things New Orleans lacked. The contrast is startling. I bet if we look around there one year on, the contrast will be even more startling.
Good luck & stay safe.
lol....your right, ATL is looking real good and my friend through in a kicker by offering me his second car for free if I move down there...LOL...still may do it.
Sad news: I found out that where I live Del Dios Hw in Escondido was burning and may still be burning as I type this, but I have no confirmation as to the truth of this.
It is true, the City of San Diego and San Diego County is handling the situation like Ive haven't imagined. It is organized and the amount of real volunteers giving of themselves is overwhelming. People are buying out water, clothing, blankets to those who had to evacuate. I slept at my friends house last night and am lucky I made it out of Del Dios.
If the same help and organization had been in New Orleans there would have been less deaths there. I will say this, help came as the fires where spreading and some fire fighters was so quick to be there that they to suffered because the fires where to fast moving. Some areas continue to burn others are contained.
Looting. Its sad to here some are evil enough to do so during this kind of tragedy but you cant stop humans from being humans.
I am surprised at how the mind reduces its needs to eating and shelter during situations such as this. It is a necessity to just stay alive and eat. People with more are giving even if they too are affected by the fire.
Thank ya'll for ya'll kind words, I am trying not to be sad and speaking as a grown man who had been through alot in life including September 11th, I am sad. Not just for my self but for the collective situation as a whole. No one knows what to do some people I call can see the flames out there window and are packing now.
