HD is part of the digital TV package here, about 6 bucks a month. You must have it . . .

You must have HD to appreciate that cool TV. Also make sure your provider offers locals in HD too.

I just picked up a Hitachi 55" plasma 1080P HD (rated 30,000 to 40,000 hours) at Sam's for an embarrassingly low price of $893.00. Sold new day after Thanksgiving, the buyer hooked it up Christmas day only to find that his 480i programming created a suck ass picture and blamed it on the TV. Service took it in and checked it out. No malfunction. So, I got it with the remainder of factory warranty (9 mo.). It was missing the remote but I programmed my Dish Network remote to work with it. While my local channels look like shit on it, the Dish Network channels look much better than that analog piece of shit I had. But, in order to take full advantage of this monster, I'm going to have to invest in some components that work with it (Blue ray, upgrade to HD, etc.). Home entertainment has never been a hard on for me but I can say that I've really missed out on some good television.

Do you have a surround sound receiver?

I hung my TV on the wall, ran cables down the wall through an outlet to my receiver. so I have 9' cables.

fortunatley I have a good friend in the business and my cable was about $30.00

Radio shack can jack you on pricing, try wally world.
