Recall that earlier generations faced down fascism and communism not just with missiles and tanks, but with sturdy alliances and enduring convictions. They understood that our power alone cannot protect us, nor does it entitle us to do as we please. Instead, they knew that our power grows through its prudent use; our security emanates from the justness of our cause, the force of our example, the tempering qualities of humility and restraint.

I love how you Republicans cling to this dumb canard. Hell, you act as if there are only Democrats in Congress. When pollsters poll separately on party performance in Congress, it is the GOP they are most pissed off at, they are blocking the end of the war in Iraq. They are also in big trouble in their districts. I think GOP losses in Congress are going to be historic.

We utilize SCHIP to take care of children in our pre-schools here. It is an extremely important part of these childrens care. The problem is not that it should be discontinued, but that it was expanded well beyond the scope of what it was intended to be.

"it was expanded well beyond the scope of what it was intended to be."

Maybe, but it was expanded to fill the yawning void of better legislation from the previous Congress.

No I don't "act as if there are only Democrats" just pointing out that neither the president or anyone in congress is liked. I have said it before FTL and I'll say it again, I would like the whole lot to be banished from government and to start over again.

Too, imho we are heading down that slipperly slope of socialism. Every new congress and president is promising something new and "free" to get elected.

I, like Ron Paul, want most socialist programs removed, not new ones created.

Thank you, perfectly stated. Typical Right wing Republican response debunked.

1. So, please explain what leads you to conclude why the NEW LOT will be any different that the OLD LOT.

2. State categorically that you want all the "Socialist Programs" for Big Business removed, including all the pork barrel programs, no bid contracts, govt subsidies for them, all the stuff they lobbied for, and your position wil gain a lot of respect.

And please, do us a favor and don't hand out that old republican apologist garbage that "Big business provides a standard of living not otherwise available"

If all you are complaining about is welfare mothers and SSI, then it your complaint should fall on deaf ears

Well for one, if we install term limits, it may not eliminate the "old boy" network it will at least reduce its strength.

Did I mention that I only wanted low income related socialist programs removed??????? Nope don't think I did, pork barrels, no bids and govt bail outs go take a flying leap too!

And please, do us a favor and don't hand out that old republican apologist garbage that "Big business provides a standard of living not otherwise available"

Where did I say that?

If all you are complaining about is welfare mothers and SSI, then it your complaint should fall on deaf ears
And if my complaint was just about that(its not), I have every right to voice it if I feel, and if a following should occur, so be it.
