Have you dealt with a moving company?

Hi everyone!

As some of you know already, I moved to ATL from Bay Area in Northern California about a month ago.

A moving company picked up my stuff on September 17th, 2007, and it has not delivered yet. How can I deal with them?

Here is a brief about what have happened;

09/17/07 – My stuff picked up.
09/23/07 – They confirmed my new address in ATL.
10/04/07 – I called to check the status, they told me a truck is leaving California on the following day.
10/05/07 – They called me to ask about my stuff. They told me they have lots of other stuffs in their storage, so needed to make sure. WTH?!?!
Yesterday – I still had not received my stuff, so made a call. They told me a dispatcher was out for the day.
Today – I was able to hold of a dispatcher. According to her, they could not locate my stuff in their storage, but will try to find it and deliver to me by next week. I asked her back that whether they lost my stuff, she said the company never lost stuff. They just can’t find whereabouts, but my stuffs are somewhere in their storage or one of their trucks. WTH?!?!

Can I trust this? What do I need to do?

Thanks for your input in advance.

Man super sorry to hear that, I was planning on moving to ATL from cali, I would love to ask you why you made the choice, but you have harder issues on your mind. A moving company putting your stuff in storage instead of just delivering your goods direct is odd. Im not sure how that works.

When I moved from L.A. to N.Y. my furniture went by Mayflower. They came, packed everything up including some very large houseplants and unpacked it nine days later in Long Island. No breakages.
Sounds like your movers are taking the piss. You need to speak to someone in authority, not a dispatcher. Check the terms of the agreement regarding lateness and loss and take it from there.

Normal procedure is to pick it up and deliver it to its destination. They only store it at your request and you are then charged a fee for storage. Something aint' right here.

You should have known it was a mistake to use TK Moving and Storage... His Volvo trucks have a Clapper transmission.

It sounds like someone REALLY screwed-up, and you need to begin immediately contacting the company CEO--not his assistant. If that doesn't get results, contact the Federal and State agencies who certify that company and get their ass shut down--before I have to move. After that seriously consider getting a good lawyer and sue the shit out of them. You might tell us the name of the company so we don't use it...

Maybe it's good news!
Let them lose your junk, blame them and collect some $$ for some new stuff
