I do know from personal experience that they are the "dumb fucks" of the dog world
So you dont want to be on the puppy reservation list? I for one, am crushed. My pups however, are not. The smell of whiskey annoys them.

So remember, call me drunk if it amuses you, but less of the "Irish"
What amuses me is your ONE encounter with the breed makes you an expert on intelligence. So be it.

This fellow taught himself how to open the latch on his crate.

Alas, due to an inherent aversion to bars of soap, he was never able to make an impression of the key that opened the lock that was subsequently placed on his crate door.

BTW...there is little that can compare to a Dal's smile.

well no, re the IQ of Dalmatians, my comment was indeed poorly worded,
What I should have said was that our ownership experience CONFIRMED what is considered to be "common knowledge" ie. that they ( Dalmatians ) are not the brightest of dogs, bearing in mind that the local benchmark would be working Collies, where the dumber ones get "deselected" generation by generation.
And whilst our brute had a MASSIVE SET OF BALLS, he should really have been born a bitch as he was insanely jealous of our other dogs ( and bitches ), some of whom were there before him.
The final straw was when he pished ( as in urinated ) all over me in our bed, so he had to go.
We did get him a new carefully vetted new home, with 2 doting children, and no other competing for attention wildlife.

Yes he had the most wonderful happy smile,
and like any blonde minded critter it was there regardless of how much he had fucked up or how bad, or how often.
He was also "ringle eyed" ie one blue, one brown
And that's Malt , preferably Irish, its a bit mellower, less "peat reek" than the Scotch stuff.
Me ould Dad used to get some lovely "wee still", but his stroke put an end to that, plus the outbreak of peace means less cover for such illict activities.

The English Sheepdog is about as sharp as a billiard ball. I had a girlfriend with two of these humongous, hairy, apes (Zero & Mostel) and one night we took them to the park for a run, and run they did. We sat in the basketball court as that was the only light available but the perimeter was black as pitch.
Every 20 seconds or so we would hear a very loud and resonant "Dung!!!" It sounded like a church bell.
Turns out as they were running at top speed, one or both of them would run head first into the the steel net poles. Didn't slow them down a lick.

Well, actually on reflection the Dalmation is not the DUMBEST
-- that record would have to be held by the Irish Water Spaniel bitch owned by a good friend of ours -- I would not believe untill I saw it with my own eyes -- chasing and looking for ( for some considerable time ) a ball that was never thrown, -- try putting that one past a Collie.
