Cool My little brush with death-or-4 wheelin' in an 18 wheeler

Another trip from hell.

So far, my shift tower popped out of the housing and I was stuck in 2nd. The shift stick all of a sudden just went limper than my penis when I fantasize about the house mother from Facts Of Life waltzing in the nude.
= $390 roadside service.
Next day it pops out again.
= $640 roadside service/replacement of shift tower.
Next, my trailer lights inexplicably went out and will need a comprehensive rewiring when I get home driving with my blinkers on.
= $?
The best part is as I was on my way to Laredo, I was doing 73 in the hammer lane when some jack-dick in a skateboard (flat-bed) who didn't know how to use a mirror decided to cut into my lane about 13 inches from my bumper....oh, and he was only doing about 63 mph.
I was empty (haulin' fencepost holes) so I mashed on the brakes but started to jackknife so my only recourse was to stop braking and go into the grassy, sloped median. Very few semis traveling at that rate of speed survive a rollover in such conditions but for some reason I was amazingly calm and kept the wheel straight and just let up on the accelerator holding it steady.
It was a rough ride and I told myself, "I'm gonna flip and die".
I kept rolling at an extremely high speed and was perplexed as to why I wasn't slowing down especially being empty. It was at that time that I realized I had thee clutch out and was in 10th gear, lol.
I finally got it stopped and the jack-dick kept going, believe it or not.
A guy (in an suv) did stop on the opposite shoulder, eyes as wide as frying pans as I gave him the thumbs up and the radio lit up with concerned truckers. I looked behind me and I had left a cloud of dust a mile and a half long, lol.

Geez, I missed the rationale, if you ever offered it, for taking up this new profession. Sure seems a bit scary compared to your previous line of work. Jim

There is no rationale, in fact it's completely irrational but I completely hated what I was doing and was fucking bored to tears. I used to have a cutting edge and lost it. I was dealing with chefs who were pairing trout snouts with Chamomile Beaujolais and suddenly realized the inane silliness that I was involved in. In the end I dreaded getting out of bed. This is a new lease on life and I get to talk in a funny voice on a CB radio.

Being in tenth properly helped, the rig would have been less ruffled and it beats eating Armco, your lucky you had the room around you to get messy in. Did the other truckers tell you to knock off with the funny voice when you hailed them back you was OK , you didn't say if your sphincter muscle bite a hole in your seat that could cost another seat cover ?. And realy flambéing one's testacies in oh so may ways , whist wearing a silly hat is not the type of carry on a man should do this whole life ! Chef's go mad ! and end up sleeping in junk yards, best out of that one .OVER
