I know it sounds like spam, and I sincerely apologize - I'm not selling candy bars though. If you've ever considered motorsports marketing, please read on.
A close friend of mine, Russ Dugger, is working toward racing in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. I'm doing his website and helping a bit with PR
in my spare time.
I got a call from him today about an opportunity with a short timeline, and since I don't have a business that needs advertising, I'm asking the community in hopes that someone - directly or indirectly - does have a business that needs advertising.
Russ has an opportunity to race this weekend
in Toledo at the ARCA ReMax event, which he needs to do in order to get the approval to race an ARCA car at Daytona in February. The Daytona race is significant, because it will grease the skids to NASCAR licensure for the Craftsman Truck Series.
The normal investment for a sponsor to field a car during an ARCA race weekend is $25,000. His team owner is financing $15,000 out of pocket to get Russ in the car. They're hoping to get a sponsor on-board for this race for the remaining $10,000, and will give them the entire car for their logos - that means you get the whole car for the race, plus $15,000 of free marketing.
The race gets broadcast three times on Speed - once live, and twice more later in the week. It's also the season finale for the ARCA series, which are basically NASCAR Nextel Cup Cars. Quite a deal.
If you know anyone who could benefit from this opportunity, please send me a PM. I'll forward along the URL of the website, and the driver's contact information so that you can speak to him directly.
This guy is the real deal...some of you here may know I'm a pretty big motorsports fan, and I can tell you that sponsors could do far worse
with the drivers representing their companies & products than with Russ. Long-term prospects for him include a TV series like "American Chopper" featuring Russ and his race team (one network is signed, but it's still being shopped to Discovery and SPEED), and they're looking for longer term ARCA or NCTS sponsors as well.
Thanks in advance - we now return to the BWOT House of Horrors.
