Bear on the Run

Guys,

It looks like I am going to be in California starting Tuesday October 9 in Berkeley [staying at the Berkeley Doubletree Marina] and then spending a few nights with a friend in Santa Cruz while taking photos of the area for the Wednesday through Saturday time frame. Then I am going to head South to SoCal to the MB Classic Center and hopefully see a couple of folks while down there from this forum and 500Ecstasy.

If all goes well I will be picking up a true AMG 1988 560SEC. So I have to give it a good test drive before pointing back toward Kentucky.

I would like to hook up with some of the 500E and BWOT guys in the Bay area if possible. I KNOW Tuesday and Wednesday evening should be free as all I am doing is buying the car after landing at Oakland at Noon. Other days are partially scheduled but I do not know the schedule until I get there.

I am going to play SoCal by ear. I will follow this thread while out there to figure out the schedule.

As for back to Kentucky, right now it looks like I will be pointing towards Interstate 40 and hopefully stopping to see folks along the way. Only known stop is an old friend [well, shes not that old] in Santa Fe.

Hope to see folks.

McBear,
Kentucky

I have one of his old 500E front bumpers at my shop ready to put on a car. Very good guy.

I know the exact bumper your referencing, there. He sent me a number of pics, back when I was researching ways to mount the intercooler in my S124. He probably knows more arcane details about the 124 chassis than just about anyone--has a great ftp site, too. A solid citizen for sure.

Tuesday October 9 -- Dinner

Looks like Tuesday evening is lining up to be a BenzWorld dinner. Gregs210 is lining up a place on the Wharf and is getting with Joe55. Everyone in the Bay area, check with this thread and see where and when. So Be There, Be There, Be There.

I will be seeing Cascade Wednesday for lunch and then a former girlfriend. So I will need good support the Tuesday night prior. I might end up in the UC Davis Medical Center after that second Wednesday visit.

Tentatively we're looking at Tarantino's on the Wharf, there is a good-size parking area just south of it and Tarantino's will validate for it. The Bear is calling for an early dinner not later than 7, so unless we end up with a large group we won't need reservations. Tarantino's is located at 206 Jefferson Street (Jefferson at Taylor), you can see the high-dollar (and overrated) Scoma's from it. Yes, they have a website, tarantinosrestaurant.com.
