lazy Germans ?

Germany's unemployment rate has fallen to a seasonally-adjusted level of 8.8%, the lowest since June 1993, as Europe's largest economy continues to grow.

===================

8.8% unemployment !

If that's in the US, its called a recession.

I agree, German workers are spoilt and. If they were as willing to re locate as the average American, unemployment would be cut in half.
The average German works 35 - 38 hrs. a week, has about 6 weeks annual paid hollidays, plus another 2 weeks of State hiollidays, and medical & dental.

It used to be around 10%, so there are fewer lazy Germans taking advantage of a generous welfare system that discourages anyone from taking a job anywhere near the minimum wage level, while the middle class is saddled with income tax rates of 40-50% to pay for it. The labour market is far more ridgid than in the US, due to government regulation which discourages opportunistic job-hopping.

Meanwhile, in the US, individuals that have effectively "given up" looking for employment are dropped from the unemployment head-count, so the actual numbers are higher than the reports suggest.
