Rolls Royce owners?

So anyone here own one?
If so, where do you get your parts from.
More specifically it's a 1968 Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow. Been sitting the better part of 10-15 years. Going to be my project over the next few years....something to keep me busy. Going to do alot of custom fiberglass work & interior stuff. But I am mainly in need of suspension & brake type of parts. If I have to fabricate my own, so be it, but If I can find parts i'd much rather bolt them on.

I am tired of all the typical bullshit I have been dealing with. Ford, Chevy, Toyota, ect.. Time to step it up a notch.

Now, hold your breath & dont laugh too hard, this is how it sits right now....

Owning one.

To understand what the ownership experience is like, drive your regular car at night in the rain, with the lights off, and and the windshield wipers turned off.

Also, don't forget to have ALL the windows rolled down in the car.

Whenever you come to a stop sign, or a stop light, throw a $20 bill out the window.

That will give you a good idea of the ownership experience.

Rolls-Royce Owners' Club for parts leads. Ebay works. There was an "illuminating" thread on this subject recently. I will look for it.

A friend of mine last year bought a 1989 Maroon Rolls Royce Silver Spur for just under $17,000.00 The blue book was $31,000 on it.

He got it cheap at a lien sale from a repair garage. The previous owner had simply walked away from it after he got sick of paying the repair bills.

On the way back across the San Francisco Oakland Bay Bridge, when the mechanic was returning from the pre purchase inspection, a hubcap dropped off one wheel, and a passing car immediately squashed it.

My friend refused to buy the car unless the hubcap was replaced. The Rolls Royce parts department was consulted and the price for ONE was $1,000.00
My friend felt sorry for the seller and found some used ones on ebay for $500

I saw the car for the first time a little over a week ago. We went to lunch in it and I got to drive it back. A marvelous leviathian, "Damn the Datsuns and full speed ahead." You look out over a enormous prow ahead, guided by the flying lady hood ornament.

My friend told me that in the last year he spent $14,000 on repairs to this $17,000 bargain. In addition to the garage he had built to house the car.

His new wife told me it was actually $15,000.

And it still needs more work.

LOL...I understand that. Dont really care. I am just tried of all the typical cars out there. I may do a complete Z06 suspension & drivetrain swap..I dunno know. I would like to keep it as original as possible.

The state the car is in right now, ownership costs do not matter.

Thats always a good idea although some people frown on a bastardized car. But they cant appreciate how much more reliable and cost friendly the car will be with a SBC and drivetrain(plus improved mpg!!). I say go for it and yank the boat anchor out of it and throw some serious HP into it. Just keep it quiet to make it unassuming!!

My Car WOO HOO...... Now SOLD

I owned an 84 and an 88 Corniche. Run, do not walk away. Both of mine were low mileage #2 condition cars. The one you show looks to be about a #8. Run. If you do happen to find a nice #2 condition one on the other hand, run. If you find a #1 condition, run. If you see one being driven anywhere, pity the poor bastard driving it. Did I mention to run away from any preBMW era Rolls? Run.

How are the cars build after BMW ownership?

Good for you! Take your time, have some fun and see how little money you can spend to make it a fun-runner.

Maybe when it's done, put a pink ribbon round it and send some photos to Shane.

PS- If you need anything sourced from the UK I will try to help. I'm sure you will find a lot of owner's clubs (support groups) based in UK who will help too.

Has someone already mentioned that Shane owns one? Of everything anyone here has ever owned, or that anyone that those here know has ever owned? And that they all suck? Just checking...
