Meth is a mixed bag. On the one hand, it is a terrible drug. But it also destroys those who are in its grip rather quickly, one cannot sustain a meth addiction and stay alive or stay unnoticed for very long. I think the meth population is swept into the prisons pretty quickly. Here in Houston, the big drug problem is prescription pain relievers. Oxycontin, Norco, Lortab, man that shit is screwing up more lives, and perfectly legally. People stay strung out on that crap for years. Something has to be done about these doctors passing out synthetic morphine and synthetic heroin like it was cheesecake.
Recall that earlier generations faced down fascism and communism not just with missiles and tanks, but with sturdy alliances and enduring convictions. They understood that our power alone cannot protect us, nor does it entitle us to do as we please. Instead, they knew that our power grows through its prudent use; our security emanates from the justness of our cause, the force of our example, the tempering qualities of humility and restraint.
