Firefox going to slow for anyone else here?

The last 2 days, my computer has been working very slow on firefox. To submit a post, or check on e-bay almost feels like dial up. Internet Explorer works fine. This has never happened before. Anyone have any ideas?

I know something has slowed me down in the past few days. I have had a discussion with cigar about it and we went over my normal virus/spy/adv software and making sure everything is updated and that gets done daily but something has been slower. I did take indexing off the C drive and that helped. Also I searched through to see if any annoy programs that stay resident were lurking in the background.

I have found that several lately opt ON for speed of their program, not caring if it slows the system down.

No problems here. Camino is a disaster, but Firefox is working fine.

Have you tried Metamucil?

Which version are you running? I was running 1.5x something, after the upgrade it was better, then I installed adblock plus (NO ANNOYING AD BANNERS, I LOVE IT!) it loads much cleaner and faster.

Just tried Firefox 2.0 (with this post) and it runs about 3X faster than IE, per usual.

so, rph74, I think the next step might be dumping cookies and temp files, then running a full a/v scan, then a decent malware tool like ad aware; definitely sounds like it is your PC or else your ISP.

Or if you really want it to be slow, you can load IE7...

I've had this trouble before. You will need to clean out your cache and clear your browsing history. Also, erase all cookies. When you downloaded the update, it automatically imported all your history, cookies and caches to often visited sites so the download will not help until you do this. Hope it works for you. It's always resolved my issues with it. I posted a couple of pics I got from the FF drop down menu under 'Preferences'. I don't know exactly where on Windows you'll have to go to get to yours.
