The first shot that started the thread is the best. You really ought to see if you can get him some money for college by modeling kid stuff in papers and rags. Friend of mine did that growing up and was able to make about $10k way back in the early 80's.

^ Thanks...he's no stranger to being in front of the camera, especially growing up as a child of mine.

I've no idea how to even start that process, but it might be something he enjoyed. I guess we'd just send that shot to an agency or something?

^^^^^

My kids did some modeling when we lived in NY. They were registered with some agency on Madison Ave, just along from my office, but I don't remember its name. In any case, you will need to put together a small portfolio, with a variety of shots in both colour and mono and be ready to present it to an agent probably in Tulsa or OK City.
He looks as American as apple pie, so I think his chances are good.

Will send a shot from my kids' Mothercare collection to your PM.

Call the local ad agencies and see where they get child models. They will have five or six agencies in your area and at least one or two that specialized in print ads. You might even have an agency that just does kids.

While they will be local, they will push photos regionally or nationally if they see good results. Mentally you have to get over the idea that many of these folks act like pimps but it is because they run through so many photos daily and so many parents that are sure their kid is the next Annie. Once you get your brain around that you will know that they are working for you because they don't get money until your kid gets work.

My agent got me shooting gigs in American Heritage, Southern Living, Smithsonian and a bunch of regional publications.

About portfolios. Guaranteed most agencies will want you to have a professional shooter do a portfolio set with your boy. You need to find out what that shooters success rate is for getting gigs and also see if they are connected to the agency [you are not interested in funding the agency owner's erstwhile brother's budding "photography" career]. If they require an independent shooter, get several recommendations and see who you are most comfortable with. Sometimes it does pay to spend a bit more to get a shooter that has very good street cred and shoots the local ads all the time. When he/she needs an extra, they will remember the person they shot for that portfolio that was cooperative.

Good Pictures

Great Pictures! Makes me wish I would have taken better quality pictures when my kiddos were young.. I have tons of pictures I cherish, but not of that quality.

Scan, fix and crop-you might be very surprised at what you can achieve.
