Snow Country: impractical cars

Absent 4-matic, I'm told that MB cars are not too much fun in snow country.

While in Park City I noticed this...probably about as bad as you could get.

Well, hopefully, when you did put it into a snow drift, the white would blend enough no one would see you. And laugh.

Its a ferrari. The guy or gal has to have something else that will actually start, so don't worry, there is a dependable car somewhere that does all the actual work.

I agree. Not in San Francisco any more. In snow country big heavy Rear wheel drivers can get you little traction, but CAN get you into wild, lurid, looping skids.

Subaru Outback AWD wagon seems to be better for that up here. They are common, like the staff car practically around here. Picked up a decent used on in Sacramento at the Subaru/Hyundai dealer....

And I thought I would *never* ever, drive a car made by a Japanese company.................

While I would be reluctant to take a Ferrari into snow, most MB's are fine in snow unless you equip them with summer tires. All season or actual snow tires work fine. Especially with Diesels and manual transmissions. Jim

I have had very good luck with the 300SEL in up to about 8 inches of snow [which is about max for here for any snowfall]. After I sold the GMC Jimmy, the SEL became the prime winter car and have never been stuck, ice or snow.

One of the scariest drives I did was up Parley's Canyon in route to Park City, caught in the middle of a snow storm.

Eh,the Ferrari will do just fine in the snow with the appropriate tires. With all the weight in the back of it,traction will be superb.
