I have driven across the USA, taken a bus across Canada and travelled through many European countries and I have to say that travel is an eye opener.

I dont think the USA has got the best of everything. It certainly has most things in the largest amounts but it certainly doesnt have a simple elegance or refined minimalism. Things in the USA tend to be overdone and oversold.

I like Europe more because of the variety in people, culture and climates. You can literally bum around Europe with a t-shirt, pair of jeans and a credit card.

When I walked down Rodeo Drive (90210) barefoot I had a hard time getting served and people in the ice-cream shop wouldn't sell me an ice-cream. So for that I marked the USA down. That and the fact that everyone is always in a hurry for some reason.

Having lived in both Europe and the far east, there is still nothing that compares to being back in the USA. Except maybe a night or two in Olongapo!

You have to understand that Rodeo Drive sees lots of out-of-work actors who look just like you. Also, America is still important - culturally, economically, technologically, etc. We haven't all relegated ourselves to being a 2nd-world country, so naturally, some of our customs would be off-putting to you.

If someone wants to mark the USA down because a fucking hobo can't buy ice cream on Rodeo Drive - the galactic capitol of wealth and pretension - well, I invite you to meet my friend Chuck U. Farley.

When on vacation somewhere, ask West Europeans about the 30+ paid vacation days they receive annually.
I doubt they would want to trade with most Americans.

Or, universal access to healthcare, or public education and transportation systems which appear to operate less dysfunctionally than our own.

The Temple of the Mount sounded like a good name for my new product line of battery operated vaginas, but I ended up going with The Holiest of Holies.
